Kitesurfing in the Red Sea
The Red Sea is the one of the few ideal winter destinations for Europeans, delivering the perfect combination of sun and wind year-round, at only a 4-5 hour flight. Although there are many great regions for kitesurfing along the Red Sea, the Egyptian west shore is probably your best option, especially if you are a beginner or dedicated freerider. Water is flat like butter, winds are consistent year-round, luxury accommodation comes very affordable, and the enchanting Bedouin vibe completes the picture...
Kitesurfing in El Gouna
El Gouna is the most popular kitesurf destination here, and for good reason. The small town features the well-known kitespot Mangroovy Beach, a beautiful mix of sandy beaches and wide, flat and shallow waters. Only after 200 metres from the beach does the water get deeper, and there is no danger of getting caught by coral in a fall. 10km south of El Gouna, Seahorse Bay is a similar spot which is great for beginners.
Kitesurfing in Soma Bay
The luxurious Soma Bay is another beautiful place, with even flatter water due to the offshore winds. Even if you can't ride upwind, you can still base yourself here and opt for its second spot, Abu Soma, where water is standing-depth and wind is side-offshore.
Kitesurfing in Safaga
Our last recommendation for you to set camp is the town of (Bur) Safaga, where many different bays allow for great kitesurfing.
Any of these three towns nearby Hurghada will likely provide you with everything you're looking for in a kitesurfing holiday. For those that need more variety, you can also explore further spots in Hurghada itself, or around Marsa Alam and Hamata (south of Safaga).
Water gets very low. Before going check the tide.
You can kite with any tide at our spot
